CONSULTANCY

Services to schools
The science specialists at Newton offer a consultancy service to schools on the use of school grounds for practical science projects. This includes the identification of plants and invertebrates, advice on equipment and the design of appropriate projects for all Key Stages up to and including 'A' level.

Surveys and habitat assessments
The centre staff have expertise in plant and invertebrate surveys. Habitat surveys include 'Phase 1 Habitat Surveys' and more detailed assessments and evaluations based on the NVC( National Vegetation Classification). Invertebrate surveys (to species level) are offered for aquatic insects, all Heteroptera ('true bugs) and Auchenorrhyncha (leafhoppers and related insects) and some of the smaller invertebrate groups.
